 Zakera Chadmon and Janecia Hemingway had 17 points each as the Tigers opened up Region VI-5A play with a victory.

Chadmon also had four steals and Hemingway had 11 rebounds, and Lenoejha Evans added four steals and six rebounds and Kishanda Adams had 10 rebounds in the win.

Conway 34, (at) North Myrtle Beach 18 | Lenaejha Evans had a team-high 11 points and Aishera Williams scored nine as Conway got the win over the Chiefs.

Aquera Johnson had a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds for North Myrtle Beach, but the rest of the Chiefs squad combined for just five points.

Neci Hemingway had a game-high 18 points, Zakera Chadmon added 15 points and four steals and Janecia Hemingway had nine rebounds as the Tigers routed the Bulldogs.

“Everyone contributed,” Conway coach Shamae Hemingway said. “It was good teamwork and a positive outcome.”

The Tigers will look to continue to improve as they take on North Myrtle Beach on Friday.

“We just need to get better in practice, work as a team and build on what we have and improve,” Shamae Hemingway said. “We need to get after it, especially on defense.”

Lady Seahawks take down Tigers

Nia Sumpter continued her tear to start the season, scoring 20 points to lead the Seahawks to another dominant win, this one over the Tigers.

Sumpter is averaging 17.6 points per game after three wins over Class AAAA programs (Socastee, Carolina Forest, Conway). Keocia Walker added 13 points Saturday and Ivy Collins scored 12 for Myrtle Beach (3-0).

Aishera Williams had a team-high eight points to go along with six rebounds for Conway, while Danielle Robinson and Zakera Chadmon scored seven each. Janecia Hemingway added three points and a team-high nine rebounds for the Tigers.

 Bethany Goodrich had a team-high 16 points to help the Sharks to a win over the Tigers in their regular season opener.Kimmie Hotzelt scored eight and Kelsi Bachmann added seven points for St. James. Meanwhile, Aishera Williams had a team-high 16 points and three steals, Lenaejha Evans scored 11 and Zakera Chadmon had nine points, five rebounds and three steals for Conway.
